    Default Pte. Henry William Phillips

    Seeking help please, to find uncles birth & death certs/records.
    Pte. Henry William Phillips, 38151, 9th Bn., Welsh Regt.. Died 7th July 1916, Somme, aged 20. Buried Becourt Military Cemetery.
    Mother, Florence (Ann) Phillips, 114, Ifield Rd., West Brompton, London.
    Father (possibly), Charles William Phillips, hotel porter of 114, Ifield Rd., (Kensington).
    Have been told death cert. could be issued by army or country of death.

    Janet H thank you for the 2 leads. I have already obtained Vol1a Pg387 cert., not the right family I believe. Hadn't seen Vol1a Pg62 so will now apply for that one.
    Elaine thanks for the CWGC reference, that's where I originally found the existence of my uncle. The MM is a mistake in transcription (CWGC). I have a copy of the medal card.
    I totally agree with the first line of your second reply. I have been trying for about six years now to trace my family and not got very far at all. I have hit brickwalls at each turn. The name Chandler has appeared as a "formally Chandler" on one cert. so that has given me another route to follow. Had found Soldiers Died. Thank you both.
