Thread: Violette Gladys Ethel Bristow nee Sowden b approx 1904

Just came across a will from my Gt Grandmother Honor Kezia Juliette Sowden nee Northey who passed away in 1940. Violette was my Great Aunt and would like to find out more about her side of family. All I know is that she was married when the will was read out in 1940 to Philip Bristow from the Fareham area. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Honour Kezia Juliette Sowden nee Northey was a beautiful lady judging by her photo.
A tree on Ancestry gives Violette's birth as Nov 1894 in Fareham Hants and marriage to Phillip Bristow and then her death in Lancs in 1960... no info as to children.

If the above record is her she's entered on the latest census as Gladys age 16, born Cosham.

So far no luck finding her marriage!

um ...well in 1911 she was at home with family but cant find a definite marrige etc after that

Hi Lola5...According to my father she was and, my Grandmother also had the Northey family looks. Thanks for the info as, it has been a minefield exploring the family on both sides...only knew of her marriage recently and this was due to Juliettes Will....thank you once again really appreciate your help

Hi Elaine...well I did not have the last 2 parts....Juliette has become well known but, the kids not so much , so appreciate the help. It is amazing how little my father knew his family??? Oh well, there is nothing like a bit of detective work. The assumption we must make is that Violette was either a). Widowed or b). Divorced. Will track this one back further and, a big thanks for your help

Hi Slizzy sorry for the late reply and, yes could well have been born in 1894...a lot of guess work has to be done on the family on my fathers side as, the family Bible has so many errors in it.....too much sherry I think when entries were made by Grand Parents . I know that Juliette had a Daughter born in Kea who died around 1892 (Annie Juliette Northey~Sowden b1891 Kea and d 1892) and, shortly after that they moved to Fareham. I really appreciate your help and, we are getting there slowly.Thanks once again
