    Default john summers

I am a newbie to this forum and I am trying to find details of my father. John Summers, he was born on 8-9 August 1927, found abandoned as a baby by a policeman in Wanstead (essex at that time ) . I cannot find any trace of him in his younger years. I have tried Dr Banardos and they have no record on thier database or others associated with them. Any one out there with any ideas where I can look next . My dad died in 1986 and as is usual I did n't get to find out about his full past. Many thanks.

You do not state where your father died, is this him below?

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
    Name: John Summers
    Birth Date: 8 Aug 1927
    Date of Registration: Apr 1986
    Age at Death: 58
    Registration district: Hackney
    Inferred County: London
    Volume: 12 Page: 1202

Have you tried police records to see where he was taken.

many thanks for your help so far, sorry I did not reply sooner been working abroad. I have the original death cert as it was myself who registered my dads death, I also have his birth details but have reached a dead end. Do the police keep records on abandoned children , if so which police force do I get in touch with Essex or London, just answered my own question ( both ). Oh well just have to keep on trying. Any body got any other pointers all help appreciated.
