Thread: George Wyatt hiding in all cenus

Hoping somebody could help steer me in the right direction please.

Im stuck with a certain Wyatt family. The wife and kids i can find in all the cenus's but never a husband. Where could he be? His wife is in the 1861, 1871, 1881 in 1861 and 1871 she's listed as married then in 1881 she's widowed.
four children three born prior to the 1861 census and one in 1865 so showing up in 1871.

All born in and living in Oundle, Northamptonshire.

Im presuming he works away from home but should he not still be showing up somewhere? George was born around 1832 again in Oundle, Northamptonshire.

Advice welcome please.

How do you know George was born about 1832 Oundle (which is the same as Eliza)?
If he was born earlier than mid 1837, he won't have a birth cert - the only record of his birth would be (potentially) in Parish records.

A number of trees on A*. All state the couple were Eliza JONES & George WYATT who married Dec Qtr 1851 in Oundle district. - but I didn't see one tree where it looked as if the actual cert has been consulted. The IGI has submitted record of the marriage, 25 Dec 1851 Oundle - Eliza stated to be chr 25 Dec 1832 Oundle, to parents James Jones & Elizabeth GILSON. George is stated to be born abt 1828 (which IF the submission is correct, would make him about 23 in 1851.

I think Eliza is enumerated as Elizabeth in 1851,a dressmaker age 18, still at home at North St in Oundle with her parents, James & Elizabeth.HO107 / Piece: 1746 / Folio: 197 / Page: 13

Oundle Bapts 1838 to 1859
Letitia's 1855 private baptism names father George WYATT, Labourer
Robert Henry's 1858 baptism names father George WYATT, Grocer

The marriage record needs to be consulted, as do the actual birth certificates of the children - while he may be a Grocer or labourer on the baptism's - he could also be a soldier, for example - and this could appear on one of those records.
