Would somebody mind checking either the 1861 or 1871 census to see if they can find a Luke Spriggs Please.
Born 1830 Peterborough Cambs, occ bricklayer. Hopefully living in Sheffield with wife
Mary 1828(ish) and son
John William Spriggs 1855 Born Sheffield occ Bricklayer.

Got him. His place of birth is given as Whittlesey on the 1861 and 1871 censuses, which is very close to Peterborough. He's living, as you suspected, in Sheffield (Nether Hallam)
