    Default The illusive ancestors Michael Montague

    Hi to everyone

    I am trying to put some flesh on my Fathers side of the family as, I know very little about his side of the Family as, he this was a personal request from my father so....here goes.

    Am looking for any information on Michael Montague born 1796 who married, Elizabeth Elliot in 1821....need to find parents and GG parent as possible. Family lived in Middlesex...any info would be Great....Thanks

    Hi Hazelnut and, thank you for the help Trying to find out about his parents...Thomas and, Elizabeth as, trying to go back as far as possible but, is a hard task today Ihave Thomas as born c 1779 and he maarried an Elizabeth Wilton....cannot confirm however so, all help would be appreciated as, this family is a mystery..whats new Thanks once again.

    Found a marraige of Thomas Montague to an Elizabeth Mays 13 July 1777 St. Dunstans and All Saints Stepney , Borough Tower Hamlets
    Looks a bit too early though, dosent it ?

    Hi Hazelnut....maybe as uncertain of Dob so maybe we are on the right path....have no further info except what I gave earlier so have to 'gestimate' the dob...is ther anything else about this Monty ? And, thank you

    If Micheal was borrn 1796 then they were late for starting a family but, have come across it before on my Grandmothers side too.

    The otherside which we know a lot about all lived in Kea, Cornwall before going South to Portsmouth and, Australia....family Northey and Sowden (Souden).

    Rebecca Ann bp 05/10/1834 Cook
    Frederick Albert bp 05/08/1840 b 10/12/1836 Cheese Manager

    Michael is buried St Mary Islington 02/04/1846 aged 49

    Michael MOUNTAGUE bp 08/02/1795 St Mary th Virgin Harefield Middlesex pres died
    Michael MOUNTAGUE bp 04/12/1796 St Mary th Virgin Harefield Middlesex your ancestor?

    both desc as sons of Thomas MOUNTAGUE & his wife Elizabeth pres there are more children!

    Marriage Thomas MONTAGUE to Elizabeth WILTON 28/10/1789 Chalfont St Peter

    You need to get copies of the original basptism / marriage entries whic are on line at a well known site, there are also 2 researchers with trees on this iste, one public the other private.

    Hi Hazelnut

    Sorry I did'nt get back sooner and, really appreciate your hardwork. Found more Monty's going back to the 1640's these all came from Buckinghamshire a small place called Hughendon, Waddesdon and St Monks Risborough and all tie in with family in Islington. Willl check and double check but, all hail from what is now London. Once more I cant thank you enough and, I am truly indebted to you.
