Question Lucy Scholes - Born Harpurhey, Manchester

Trying to find out more information on my grandfather's sister. She was born 24 Jan 1893 and died in an accident in 1923. The family story goes that she never married, went into the workhouse and then was knocked down by a bus and killed. I presume the workhouse would have been Crumpsall being the nearest one but can find no records of her. I would like to know more about how she died.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

How sure are you about how she died? there is a deah for a Lucy Scholes March qr 1923 Prestwich 8d 342 aged 31- which would be about right. Maybe her death cert would give you more details i.e:- cause of death, and where she died. Have you seen this website about workhouses - it's very good. The history of the workhouse by Peter Higginbotham
