Default Help needed in Bristol area please.

My Great Uncle David Meace died 5th JAN 1952 at 11 Portbury Grove, Shirehampton, aged 63. Left widow Amy. I've checked but no obitury in local paper the library say. I don't know how long they had lived in the area but they were not local to start with. However there were some family not far away. I'm trying to find if they had any children other than a baby who died in 1916. I don't even know if David was buried or cremated so looking for headstone might be too big a job unless there are records of those. He'd been a labourer at the smelting works, were records kept from there by any chance. Has anyone from the area any idea how i could find out more. I have the death certificate. Any help would be much appreciated.

There was Phyllis Sarah Edna, Is she the Edna whose death you have?

David's twin was Sarah Jane(parents Thomas and Sarah ) They are on 1891 census in Barton Lancs.
David was 28 when he signed on in army.
I think it is the same David in Heaton/ Heysham Lancs aged 12 in 1901.
They were living in Rosyth when he left the army.

    Regards Lola

Hi Lola, I just have Edna but as I never sent for the birth certificateseeing she didn't survive she could have had more names. Yes I have david's twin Sarah Jane, I'm certain that is him on the 1901 as his parents were Thomas and sarah. It was a big family and I traced them all to the latest generation but didn't manage everything with David. Most of the family were in Rosyth at that time as there was work building the dockyard.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi again Lola, the message reply sent to my email box says you found another child? It doesn't say that in the message here? I will await your PM. Thanks again.

    Hi Cassie,
I don't know how you got that message as I tried to edit my post but obviously didn't manage it properly. The child I found was Phyllis Sarah Edna born 1912.So I guess she was christened as Bond. Was she perhaps the Edna you have who died. I guess you have his army records.
I cannot understand the death in Bristol? Did Amy die there too?

Hi Lola, no I never found that child, must admit I never looked earlier than Amy and David married. Edna was born in 1916 and died at only a few months old. I didn't find another child. You would think with the Meace surname been fairly rare now he would have been easy to trace but that's far from the truth. David's family did as most labourers did in those days, moved about a lot. He had 12 siblings born in about 8 different places. I've just got that one brief Army record, lots were destroyed in the war. However I did find him in Bristol City directories in 1938 so they were down there a good few years. Like a lot of families they had had their fair share of sadness, young tragic deaths and the like and I do know that one of Davids relatives was living around Bristol, perhaps that's why they went or perhaps just for work. He's on the 1891 and 1901 as a child then on the 1911 near Hull as a fireman, docks again perhaps as that was at Immingham. When he married in 1915 it was back up in Scotland as his father and many others in the family were working there on the docks at Rosyth. That's why I was hoping for an obit' or headstone just in case there was more to his life. Amy was born in Northamptonshire so her family had done the same moving about. By the way there are a few Amy Bond's around. I just felt they may have had more children but I've not found them. I've not found Amy's death which is very strange. Guess she could have married again, perhaps I should look at that one.
Thanks for your thoughts etc on this one. If you have further ideas please say.
    Regards, Cassie
