Thread: Trying to find Elizabeth Hyde..

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all well?

I am trying to find a marriage and death for Elizabeth Hyde. She was born in Barrow-in-furness Lancashire in 1892. Parents were Thomas and Douglas Hyde (Douglas being female) .
I believe she married someone by the name of Nichols or Nicholson and lived in Blackpool. I have searched and can't find a marriage. Please could someone give me some advise as to what to do next?

Hello. I have looked on the 1538 - 1940 Marriage records. Sorry to say no record for Elizabeth.
I did find the Family on the 1901 Census. I will list details in case you do not have them
Thomas H Hyde. 1848. Born Ireland. Occupation. Engine Fitter Shipyard.
Douglas " 1851 Ireland.
Charles " 1878 Scotland " Bolt Boring Machine. Boiler.
Margaret " 1885 Scotland
Elizabeth " 1892 Lancashire
They were living at 188. Devonshire Buildings Barrow Lancashire.

do you know anything about her death ?? roughly when or how old she was ? any other facts eg died before a childs marriage etc etc

Hello to you both. Firstly, Thank you for trying.
I have all the info on the family except Elizabeth. A very elderly Relative seems to remember that she married a Nichols or Nicholson. She was know as Aunty Nicky because of her married name.. She may have had a child possibly named Beatie...I seem to remember my Mother (many moons ago) Saying she was going into Blackpool to meet up with her cousin Beatie as she lived in Talbot Road. There was no other cousin that lived in Blackpool so it must have been Elizabeth's child...Elizabeth being my Mother Aunt.. I have all the B/M/D's for the rest of the family...Elizabeth seems to be the only one I can't get any further on.

Thank you Welshlady...I don't think either of those would be her as Her name definitely wasn't Jane and the other one ....the birth date is wrong.
I don't think she wants me to find her??? lol

Hi Posh, how many of Thomas and Douglas' children have you managed to find in 1911? Or, if you haven't accessed the 1911 census how many of them have you accounted for by marriage?

I have found Mary...Margaret...Charles The rest of the children died before the 1911 census. They had 9 children and lost 6 all very young. Elizabeth was the only one born in Barrow-in-furness. The others were all born in Govan Scotland.
A very sad family...Mary died in 1918 having caught fire after rescuing her daughter who fell in the fire...The daughter went on to live to a grand old age. xx

Thanks Posh, that info helps. Do you have access to the 1911 census and if so have you noticed how many children Thomas had and how many had died?

Due to copyright regulations we have to be very careful what info we mention re 1911, therefore I cannot expand.
