Please help me with our family mystery and geneological brick wall.
My maternal 2G grandfather, Henry Askham, raised his family in Cambridge, but according to the censuses was born in Oundle. We have no idea exactly when or where he was born, or who his parents were. See the Henry Askham summary below.
Also, there is a family rumor that we are descendents of Roger Ascham, tutor of Queen Elizabeth. In Peter Underwood's book, "This Haunted Isle: The Ghosts and Legends of Britain's Historic Buildings", and related to Abbey House, Cambridge, quotes my great uncle Arthur "Ascham" (son of Thomas) saying that we are descendents.
Thank you.
