Default JUNGINS or JUNGUIS (or similar!)

A distant ancestor was born in about 1837 in Norwich (Nfk, Eng) as what appeared to be Margaret Anne Elizabeth JUNGINS. After some searching she has been found in both the 1841 and 1851 Census Returns - I'd already discovered her in 1861, and she married George W PLUMSTED in 1863. Her sister married as Catherine JUNGUIS in 1866. Could be a transcription error from hand- to type-written indexes. Any comments?

Hi, please can you clarify whether you are looking for Margaret's ancestry, or is your enquiry about the different spellings of her surname?

Thanks EVERYONE for your responses - and so soon after placing the "query".
I'd be interested in details of the Elizabeth that you found, Grungedav. In reply to Slizzy, I'm really more interested in the correct spelling (so perhaps if there are rather more recent uses of the name - possibly including anyone living ...). However this may also involve further historical research!
... and Milford lass, you've possibly noticed that there were at least two families with this [approximate!] surname in Norwich at about the same time. I've also seen it transcribed as TERNGINS.

    Hi THoward,

As you probably realise surnames were not standardised back then, they were written phonetically therefore as a particular scribe interpreted what was heard. This does mean that even today there are probably different spellings of the name. A name I'm researching is Hargreaves, and depending upon how the surname was spelt by officials once surnames were standardised it can be found today as: Hargreaves, Hargreave, Hargraves, Hargrave and other variations of the same name.
