    Default Robert and Hester Godwin

Thank you in advance for any help received.
Robert Godwinn/Godwin/Goding/Godding b. about 1751 Kingston Lisle, Berks married Hester Johnson b. about 1743. Marriage 10 December 1781, Ashbury, Berks. Hester Johnson was married before according to Parish record for Ashbury. Can not find birth/christenings for either and need help with parents of both. No record of her previous marriage either. Have only checked Parish transcripts on CD Vol 1 Faringdon (Ashbury, Kingston Lisle etc.) Robert died 1829 Kingston Lisle, Hester died 1826, Kingston Lisle.

    Hello
Your marriage is recorded as Robert GODING

Have you looked at the original entry of the Parish Records?

Witnesses can often be relatives and occassionally the clergy may have written local notes, wishful thinking Hester's maiden name.....

Records can be ordered and viewed via the Familysearch centres

    Hi,

This marriage may be worth further consideration as a possible for Esther's first marriage.

Richard Johnson to Esther Hawkins, 4th Jul 1773 at Brightwalton, Berk's. Also listed as Chaddleworth Berk's (probably as Banns would be read in both spouses parishes)

Here's the baptism for the above mentioned Esther. It looks quite promising as I noticed Robert and Esther had a daughter named Catherine.

Witnesses to the marriage of Robert and Hester were a Mary and William Hazell. (sister and brother?)
Family search lists a Richard Godwin marriage to Mary Hazel, 23 Jan 1788, Faringdon, Berkshire. Batch No. M01865-1, Origin England - ODM, Film No. 88260.
Could Richard be one of Robert's siblings? There is also a marriage William Hazel to Ann Butler, 11 Nov 1782, Faringdon, Berks, M01865-1, England-ODM, 88260.

Robert died Kingston Lisle, Berks, 1829 at age 70. This would make his birth around 1759. Does anyone have access to do a look up in parish records for Brightwalton, Berks for birth? Records for there have not been transcribed.
    Thanks, Geewhizz09 from Canada.
