Thread: Peter Bolt

My brick wall is the birthplaces of my 3x great grandparents Peter Bolt (boult or Boulte)
Peter was born about 1781 and died at greenwick Kent in 1841. The 1841 census says he was not born in the county. Georgiana [nee Martin] was born about 1785. She died before the census in 1841 so I dont know if she was born in the county or not.
Peter was a bricklayer and they married 21/12/1831 at Eltham Kent.
Their 3 children were born there. Napoleon James, William Cucksey Lafayette and Sophia Louisa.
There is a Peter Kearne Bolt born in 1781 at St Olave,Southwark, Surrey,but I am unable to find if this is my Peter.
I am also unable to trace the birth for Georgiana Martin. The names of the childre suggest a French connection, but I have heard that there were quite a few English who were French symapthisers. Can anyone shed any light?

Hi Elaine. Sorry not to reply to you earlier. I hadnt clicked the subscription box so wasnt notified. The IGI entry is mine I am afraid. His daughter Sophia married Robert SMITH . A scottish fellow who was in the military and stationed at Plumstead.
I have the marriage entry from church records for Peter and Georgiana but it says `of this parish` but 1841 census says Peter was not born in county. Peter was a bricklayer and the family lived at Lime Kiln lane Greenwich. Georgiana died a few maonths befor the census so I dont know where she was born.

Seeker, this could be your Peter. When a person is entered in Church Registers as of this parish, their only qualification to be entered as such is to have lived there for a few weeks, I think three, for the time the banns are read.

Hi Slizzy. I have wondered about this Peter. He fits perfectly and I can not find a death/ Marriage or census entry for him, only my Peter, so unless Peter Kearne Bolt died pre 1837, it is a good shot that he might be who I am after
