Thread: Henry Bryce

Hi All,

I have two brick walls which i hope some kind soul can help me repair them!

1. Henry Bryce (Brisland, Brysland, Bryceland, Bresland) born Derry or Donegal, Ireland, born ca 1813, married Catherine Lynch. They had four children: Mary b ca 1847, James b ca 1850, Rose Ann b ca 1853, and William b ca 1857(my grandfather). The family moved to Greenock, Scotland sometime after their birth. Henry has been listed under various surnames, (as have his children), on the Scottish marriage documents of his children as a horse dealer or labourer. His wife, Catherine died in Greenock in 1886 but there is no record of Henry's death. I am anxious to know where & when Henry died and under what surname.

2. William Fearon, b ca 1809 in County Down, Ballindoalty Townland. Believe he may have married a Bridget Farrell. He had at least one child, Thomas (my maternal grandfather), b 1 Feb 1858, Rosstrevor, County Down. Thomas moved to Liverpool, England where he is listed on the 1881 census as Thomas Fern. Thomas married Margaret Hughes in 1884 and his father is listed as a farmer, deceased. I would like to know when & where William Fearon died and who his wife was. Also, it would be really great to find out if there were any other children of this man.

This is as far back as I have been able to go with my family history and I would be most appreciative for any help.

Hello I have searched the 1861 and 1871.Census. No Mention of Thomas.
On the 1881. I looked on the image. and Found the Hughes Family. Also Thomas Boarding with a James Hughes
Just in case you have all the 1881 information I will not list it But please ask if you do not.

1891. Census. Thomas Fearon. 1857. Coal Heaver. Margaret.1863. ( Margaret on 1881). Liverpool. Daughter. Annie.1887.Liverpool. Scholar. Marion. 1890 Liverpool.

1901. Census. Thomas. fearon. 43 Coal Heaver. Margaret. 38. Annie. 14. Marion 12. John. 4. Cathleen. 2 months. Also Lodging with them James Hughes. Dock Labourer

I did not find anything about William and Wife. But will keep looking. Let me know if you wish details of 1881 Census.

Thank you both for your responses! I'm so sorry that I haven't answered before now but we've had sickness & death in the family. Bronson, I believe Thomas is mentioned on the 1881 census as Thomas Fern living as a boarder on Mahgul St, very near Margaret Hughes. In any case, I do have the info you've both mentioned but if anything else comes up, that would be terrific!
