Interesting thanks slizzy, unlikely to be coincidental two different John Gregory's in the same place, think someone sugested the 20 year old one above was from hartley wintney - does census show relationship to each other?

Sorry Grungedav, the 1841 census doesn't give relationships nor places of birth, it just tells us whether or not folks were born in the County they are living in.

I can see Henry, Sarah and Emma in 1851, but so far I haven't John.

Thanks slizzy, a lot more to go on these gregory's must be related to John gregory born 1844 Hythe his sister was Sarah - looks like possible family names, good chipping at a brick wall, if he is from Hartley wintney there are Jon gregory's going back to 1705

i think the john from 1841 census was a basketmaker that later married a harriet

Maybe they didn't know Tadley was Hant's as in 1851 Henry and Sarah were both born in Oakingham Berk's.

Grungedav, for me to help further you need to start at the beginning. Tell me more about John born 1844, do you know who his mother was? Do you have his birth certificate and if so what are all the details. If you have his marriage cert we can work backwards from there. The more info you can provide, the better equipped I'll be to help.
