Thread: Thomas Brown born 1769? Son of Thomas

My current brick wall is that of Thomas Brown b I think 1769 at Cresswell His Parents Thomas & Ann married 1768 at Woodhorn St Mary Northumberland. He is on the 1841 census and both he and his Wife Alice are down as 75yrs of age. I have checked the Bishops transcripts - but what I think are the relevant pages are blank. I did think a long time ago when I was first getting into family history he was on the IGI but alas if he was he is no longer. He was the first born and his siblings were all baptised at Woodhorn st Mary. Any help much appreciated.

Hi thanks for your reply. Yes they are his parents. I cannot find any reference to his birth anywhere. All his siblings were baptised at Woodhorn. I checked the pr's a while back at Woodhorn, but whether it was the poor writing or the damaged pages [and some parts of the earlier records there are a few bits that are unreadable] and I guess the time factor didn't really help either!
I Haven't got a death cert for him yet. I intend to order one But I found he was buried at Woodhorn along with his wife. I am wondering if he was born before 1769. I know he was the first born - and the second one was born 1771

Hi thanks for your reply. The parents married in 1768 at Woodhorn. Thomas [junior] married in 1789 at Woodhorn.. I never thought about the possibility of him not been baptised until adult.. He just doesn't seem to show anywhere for a birth. His whole family apart from him seem to be at Woodhorn. I think the years were rounded up to the nearest five on the 1841 census?

I have today ordered 2 death certs - his was one of them.
