Thomas Johnston
My brick wall is finding details of my Great Grandfather,his name was Thomas Johnston born in Ireland in 1864/65.I know he married in Liverpool in 1886 to a Alice Lyon at St Peters Church,at the time of their marriage acording to the marriage certificate they both lived in Vauxhall Rd Liverpool,also according to the certificate the grooms Father was William Johnston a Labourer.
I would like to know where he was born and the date,also to know his Mothers name.
Some time between his marriage and the birth of their first child the name seems to have changed from Johnston to Johnson,not sure if that is to do with the fact that on his marriage certificate there is a cross to mark his signature so could be a mispelling.
He died on 6/6/1898 age 35 at 53 Midgehall st,Liverpool under the name of Thomas Johnson,I have been unable to find anything on the censuses that I can be sure of as being him before 1891 when he is on with his wife,so not sure when he came over from Ireland.
Any help you could give me would fill a big hole and help me find out exactly where my relatives came from.
