Hello:
I have been searching for the town of origins for my ggg grandparents for many years.
My ggg grandparents, Felix and Sarah (McQuoid) Keenan;b. 1814/1809:IRL immigrated to the Dearham, Cumberland, ENG area about 1845. Their son, John Keenan, b. 1835, Down, IRL opened a china shop in Cockermouth, ENG which was there for many years. John was baptized in Kircubbin, Co. Down. Census info from Cumberland indicated several of his children were born in County Down, again where in Down not identified.
A search by UHF indicated the Keenan and McQuoid families were very likely from the Greyabbey-Kircubbin-Glastry areas (Inishargy-Inch-Ardkeen) but I have yet to make a direct connection.
I have found Keenan relatives throughout Cumbria; around the Dearham, Cockermouth and Cleator Moor areas.
My branch of the tree; g grandparents; John James and Mary (Berry) Keenan;b. 1865, Cumberland, ENG immigrated to the USA about 1880. They returned to England only to go back across the ocean to settle in the Rochester NY area about 1910.
Looking forward to connect with other Keenan relatives.
Best regards from Western NY
Chuck
