Thread: Pycroft family from Nottingham

I need to prove that the family I have been looking at are my relatives.
My Gr.GR. Grandfather only show in the 1851 census with his name spelt wrong on the census it is Rycraft not Pycroft it does show his father as John and a lace maker which is correct.
Going back one more generation I have found a John Pycroft christened 2 Sept. 1798 Basford Nottingham
who had a son James but I can not find any record of James birth/christening.
Can anyone help me confirm I am looking at the correct family line.

I can help with look ups for Rycroft in Nottingham, there are quite a few.
Have found a James, father John mother Ann baptised 1820 10th Sept Radford, St Peter...know it well. Father is a bleacher, which could be flour, cloth or leather

which suggests you may find a Rycroft listed in the directories.

Have just had a look at the link and would you believe the 1823 Pycraft has the same info ie father bleacher

Have looked at further baptisms and from 1828, a John Pycroft/Pycraft mother Ann is a lace make, last child is Emma 1834
Bleacher 1818-1823 from baptisms, 10 children in all. If you know of any brothers or sisters, it maybe a starting point if you want to run any names by me.
