Thread: John Eager

Hi I am stuck tracing back my tree and have been for a year or two. I would love the assistance of the "big help" request. I am trying to find details of John Eager born circa 1796. All the information that i have was that John "Egar" married Mary Rutland on 25th December 1825 at St Dunstans Stepney London. The bans were read on 4th December 1825 and state that John was a widdow and Mary was a Spinster. The marriage register states that John "Eager"was a batcholer and both John and Mary signed with a cross. The 1841 census gives details for John "Egar" and Mary at Clare Street Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets. Johns age is given as 45, Mary 35 and the children Henry 10, Maria 4 Charlotta 10 and another 2. Johns place of birth is given as S for scotland. I am unsure if Charlotta age is correct here. Henry "Egar" was born on 6 july 1829 and Maria "Egar" 26 Aug 1836. Both Maria and Henry were Christened at St Leonards Shoreditch on 12 Oct 1836. I have a reference that John died in July/August/September 1846 in Bethnal Green vol 2 page 27.

I would really like to know where John Eager came from and where and when he was born? Eager is quite an uncommon name yet there where several families in the east end at this time. I am not sure that John came from scotland or maybe thats what he thought and the family came from there earlier that that. Please note that i put several posts on here december 10 to feb 11.
