My name is Mary Hart, I am trying to trace the parents of my grandmother, Mary Wilding - she appears on the 1861 census, aged 6 years, as the neice of Elizabeth Corry (nee Wilding) and her husband Thomas Corry and her place of birth as Preston, Lancs. On Mary's marriage certificate in 1890 her age is given as 32, (somewhat younger than the 1861 census suggests! and her father is listed as James Wilding, farmer, deceased. Her aunt Elizabeth, on her marriage cert. in 1852 lists a James Wilding farmer, decd. as her father, and in the 1861 census her birthplace is listed as Horwich Lancs. Mary Wilding Corry married Alexander Walmsley Crabtree in 1890, and he eventually rose to be chief cashier of Williams Deacons bank in Manchester. Mary's birthday was on 22 Feb. and she died on 31 July 1923. She and Elizabeth were Roman Catholics. Any help in taking the wilding line further back would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
