Thread: Joseph and John Hancock.

Hello to everybody, Hopefully you can help me.

I am looking for any information for my ggg grandfather Joseph and his brother John.
To let you know I have all the information from the censuses regarding wifes and children.

My problem arises prior to 1841 when the census first began.
The censuses state that they were both born in Taunton Somerset ,JOSEPH around 1814 and JOHN in 1823. I believe their father was also called John.

I have looked but cannot find any information relating to these people. I only have ancestry.co uk.

Can anybody help me???

You are now into the realms of Parish Records ans whatever you can glean.

There are limited records on line, the site used by most of us to get the initial information is familysearch a free to use site.

You might even be looking at non conformist records A John HANCOCK click here I have identified this one, but only looking at the Parish Register and the entry made at the time of the we event will confirm this

You can view and order the relevant parish films at a LDS cedntre close to your home check out the toll bar research centre

Another site that may asisst is Genuki Taunton

I find to be successful on your initial review of the records is to have as much family info as possible at 1841 all the siblings you can find etc!
