Thread: Searching for information on william finnie

I am searching for any information on William Finnie, born appprox. 1901 in the UK to Alice Ethal Finnie (nee Whur) and Alexander Finnie. Alice Ethal Finnie died 1903. Alexander Finnie had the Fishery Inn Public House in Boxmoor Hemelhempstead. He left in 1919 and came to South Africa where he died in 1920. Alexander Finnie's father was William Garden Finnie and his mother was Janet Finnie (nee Stoddard) they ran the Halfway House Public House in Bovingdon Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire, until approx. 1925/6 Thanking you ShellBell

Hi Elaine many thanks for the information. William Garden Finnie was my g/grandfather and Janet Stoddard Finnie my g/grandmother. I have researched and found out that they came from Scotland to the Uk and did settle in Fulham before moving on to Hemel Hempstead. I cannot figure out where the name Dickson fits in as I only have her maiden name as Stoddard. Their son Alexander Finnie was my grandfather and he had the Fishery Inn in Boxmore H/Hempstead but came to South Africa in 1919 and died in 1920. He had a son William Alexander, to Alice Ethal Whur in approx 1901 and she died in 1903. I have been trying to find out what happened to William Alexander Finnie but haven't had any luck. Janet Finnie had another son, Dawson who lived in Wandsworth, so I guess she must have been living with him when she passed away.
