Thread: Mary Maisy Nichol

I am looking for proof of the parents of Mary Maisy Nichol born abt May 2-1801 at Mertoun, Berwickshire, Scotland. Her death record of 1864 lists her parents as William Nichol(master Gardener) and Agnes Glendinning. The only marriage record I can find for these two was in 1757, so I know this is not the right parents for her. Mary married James MacBeth abt May 07, 1821 probably at Aberdalgie,Perth,Scotland. Her death record of June 15, 1864 was from Stobhall, Cargill, Scotland. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I can find a marriage of Mary Nichol to James McBeath, in Stirling. This only shows her name as Mary, and the Maisie, may have been a family name, which she was called, being a form of Mary. There is a birth of a Mary Nichol to a William Nichol in Perth, and a marriage of William Nichol, but to a woman named Katherine Scott.

There's a christening on familysearch.org of Mary Nicol 18/3/1800 at Mertoun Berwick dau of William Nicol.
Other christenings in Mertoun around the same time Christian Nicoll 26/9/1802 dau of William Nicoll & Agnes Clendenning, Janet Nicol 24/6/1798 dau of William Nicol & Agnes Glending.
Unfortunately I can't find a marriage with any of those surnames on familysearch.org but that gives you a few more possibilities.
