Could someone please help with the birth of Barnabas Redfern.
1881 census says he was born in 1788 Yearley Derbyshire
I am unable to find his birth or his family.

Are you sure it was the 1881 census? I can find a death in Jan qtr 1876 at Derby Derbyshire born abt 1789.
    From 1861 & 1871 censuses his spouse was Elizabeth. 1841, 1861 & 1871 censuses are on A********.

From familysearch.org Barnabus Redfearn m. Elizabeth Bullock on 4 or 14/2/1833 St Alkmund, Derby, Derbyshire. (2nd marriage?)
and Barnabus Redfearn m. Elizabeth Plant on 20/4/1809 Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Familysearch also has a christenings for Elizabeth 1821, George 1819, Mary 1818, Ann 1812, Sarah 1816, Robert 1809, Ellen 1814.

There seems to be an older Barnabas Redfern on familysearch b. abt 1711 m. 1736 maybe a grandfather.

Many thanks, you are quite right I made a mistake and it was the 1871 census.
I guess you are unable to find a record of his birth?

Sorry I can't find his birth. Yeaveley records according to Hugh Wallis' IGI Batch numbers website only start at 1841 and the independant church there at 1816. I also tried Ashborne which is nearby and Shirley as Yeaveley is supposed to be part of that parish but nothing there either. You could try googling Derbyshire lookup requests for Yeaveley.

    Hello

familysearch.org has NOT digitalised all the parish records yet and this may be one of the reasons you are not finding your man.
There appears to be a 50 year gap in the records! 1750-1807

Maybe you need to search out the marriage entry to see what is stated if you havenot already done this, Barnabus may have been of another parish, but still born in Yearsley!

If you know the dates of this event, an approach to the Derbyshire for the cost of photocopies and psotage may be a good investment!
