Thread: Vanishing Act!

I have a disappearing family...

John Roberts, wife Elisabeth (nee Williamson) and daughter Sarah.

John and Elisabeth married in 1857 in Leeds. John was the son of George Roberts & Ann Senior. Elisbaeth the daughter of John Williamson & Sarah Horne.

John (b. 1935, Leeds) & Elisabeth (b. 1838, Holbeck) are on the 1861 census with son Charles Arthur Roberts (b. 1858, Holbeck) and daughter Sarah A. Roberts (b. 1860, Holbeck) at 14 Danby Square, Holbeck in Leeds. John was a Flax Clerk.

On the 1871 census Charles Arthur is with Grandparents John & Sarah at 16 Danby Square, Holbeck in Leeds. But I can't trace his parents or sister. The 1861 census is the last "sighting" of the family.

Any help would be appreciated - either tracing their deaths, or perhaps Elisabeth remarried... ?!?

There is a Sarah A ROBERTS recorded as deceased 1861 Holbeck ( yorkshirebmd.org.uk)

Obtaining Charles marriage information would advise you whether the father John was deceased at 1880 St Peters Church Leeds ( a photo copy of the entry will be cheaper than the certificate and contain the same info!)

thanks for your help! I have a copy of the marriage certificate for Charles, it doesn't deceased against John, just that his occcupation was bookkeeper.
I shall look up these death records you have found. I have looked before but not found anything, must've missed the one's you've uncovered! (although it was a while back).
