    Default Death Certificate

I am trying to get the death certificate for my step- mother. Unfortunately I have very little information on her. Her name was Olive Taylor nee Keegans nee Garrett.
She married Harry Keegans in 1945 in the borough of Westminster, London. At some point he either died or they divorced.
She remarried (to my father) Leonard Daniel Garrett in1956 in the borough of West Ham, London.

    Hello Ruth100

Leonard Daniel GARRETT was b 10/03/1912 and dies q2 1972 in the City of London

Olice is not that easy to find,Loads off the name TAYLOR and just as many GARRETT's

Suggest you get the KEEGAN / GARRETT marriage certificate to ascertain her age and year of birth, hopefully Olive will then be readily identifiable

The death would have been registered in her last known surname - in this case Garrett. What you need is a rough year of death so that you don't have to search the Indexes over too many quarters, and, if possible, a rough area where you think she died.
With a reasonably common name like Garrett I think you are going to have a long search. Once you have found what you think is the right registration you then order the certificate. Be prepared for disappointment, however. Often the first one you order is not the right one.

Thanks for the help, Victoria. Sadly, I don't have much of a clue where she died or when, but I assume it would be London. I guess I'd better start looking. Thanks again.

The husbands death certificate will indicate who advised of the death, hopefully Olive!
