with thanks, is the 1841 census a house? with there being a lot there, does it have donalds occ or is it the one stated which i presume is misspelt plasterer?
Yes that is the Occupation but I do not know about the miss spelling. PLARTUER
was using the French word Plartuer Meaning someone who plants out probably seeds.
No it is a Farm or large Property by the description. I will have another look and let you know
I have had another look I think maybe it was a Lodging House As you will see I have added
Occupations of all on the List. it is a pity they will not allow viewing of the original images
perhaps by next year it may happen

The ages of people over 15 years old were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years. Therefore, someone who was actually 24 years would have their age listed as 20, and someone who was actually 27 years old would have their age listed as 25. If people lied about their ages, or if their real ages were not known or reported correctly, the gap between the rounded age recorded on the census and their actual age may be quite significant.

yes- i have 1851 census that you have put down here, but on 1841 census i think if duncan is donalds father its the wrong one as donalds father was finlay and mother margaret mcdonald, although it could be grandparents i suppose , i will have to find finlays parents to verify that, the second 1841 is odd as donald wed ann mckenzie and there is a mary mckenzie on it? it would be so much better if it stated occupation i know, but many thanks to you for your help x
to bronson 211-- if you have access to scotlands records could you do me a BIG favor! see if you can find finlay mclean born around 1785-1798 as he is donalds father (as on marriage cert) it possibly is ross and cromarty again. i know he wed margaret mcdonald. thanks so much, x
