    Default stuck already

I have been trying to trace my family tree and have all sorts of names dates etc. I am not sure if I have gone down the right road trying to tie all these ancestors up so I have decided to start a fresh but have hit a brick wall already. I am trying to find my great grandads marriage records.
On my grandads entry of birth (Samuel Frederick Bovey, 28th April 1887, living at 7 Dobbs Cross, St Saviour Surrey) his dad is Francis Bovey and his mother is Eliza Bovey formerly Harrison born in Bristol. She is aged 44 from the 1901 census and he is aged 50. I would be most greatful for any help please.
    Thanks Lesley

    Hi Lesley.

Re Elsabels' post above. Interesting to note that on the 1891 census, Eliza gave her birthplace as Southwark.

Re a possible first marriage for Francis Bovey:-

    1871 Census - 7 Marlboro St, Southwark

    RG10; Piece: 593; Folio: 28; Page: 50

Francis Bovey 24 yrs Dock Labourer b. St Saviour.
Sarah Bovey 21 yrs b. St Saviour.

If this does prove to be the case, there are 5 or 6 'possibles' born between 1856 and 1858 to be found on FreeBMD Home Page

Many thanks for your information and your time. I dont recognise the name Samuel Vinicombe. The parents names on my grandads birth certificate is father Francis Bovey and wife Eliza Bovey (formerly Harrison).
I remember my dad telling me that his father Samuel Frederick Bovey was a ladies man and in the end his wife (Alice Rose Kirk) moved out with the children whilst he was at work. My dad told me he probably has step siblings out there some where. I wish I had asked more questions before my dad passed away.
I know that my grandad Samuel Frederick Bovey died in 1959 and I know he was buried at Wandsworth cemetary. I beleive Wandsworth hospital arranged the funeral. I dont understand that if he was such a ladies man and had fathered other children why was it the hospital that arranged the funeral and not his family etc?. I guess that is something I will never find out. It is his father that seems to be causing me problems. Everyone seemed to call their children Francis!
    Many thanks Lesley

    Hello

Before you commit to an annual subscription why not try out the 14 day free trial, remebering to cancel the credit card details beofre the money is snatched form your account, then move on to the nect 14 day free trial, there are 3 main subscription sites, so you should be able to get 6 weeks for free, you do however need to be organised to get hte maximum benefit. Each site has it own 'speciality' records.

Consider sites like Freebmd.org.uk / Freecen.org.uk AND Familysearch.org whicy has quite a few census years on now......

Hazelnut may be able to add to the list....
