I am trying to find the parents/ancestors of my 5th great grandmother Dorothy Ellison (Ellis). She was born in 1718 and is 'of Barrington, New Hampshire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the following information already:
Book - Vital Records from the Parish Register of Queen's Chapel, Portsmouth, NH - copied and indexed by Priscilla Hammond, Concord, NH 1939 - page 9 - 1744 Barrington Janry 16th 1744 Samuel and Thomas, children of Thomas and Dorothy Shepherd. --The Parish Register of Queen's Chaptel, Portsmouth, NH during the Rectorship of Rev. Arthur Browne.
WILL - The will of Thomas Shepard of Barrington, dated 4 Jun 1771, proved 29 Nov 1771, named his wife Dorothy, son Samuel Shepard one shilling; son Thomas Shepard half of the 100 acres granted to William Carmaday by the town of New Holderness; son Jacob-the homestead in Barrington; son John Shepard all his original right in New Holderness and half the original right granted to Samuel Shepard; daughter Susanna Sheperd, under age. [Rockingham County Probate].
Book - George Hodges, "Holderness" (1907), Riverdale Press - states that Thomas Shepard with Thomas Ellison, his brother-in-law, visited Holderness in 1750; also that Thomas Shepard with others petitioned for a grant of land there, 15 Oct 1751.
