    Exclamation Annie Davies

im researching my davies tree, im loking for help on one Annie Davies b 1880 denbigh d manchester 1953, this lady is my gt grandmother, she married william jones and in 1901 was in manchester see cencus RG13; Piece: 3674; Folio: 32 the rest of the names are her husbands family, all but one robert davies, im guessing by the age of him that he was her brother, this brings me to the only entry i can find for an annie and robert davies in denbighshire in 1891 as shown in RG12; Piece: 4628; Folio 41

im trying to find info that would confirm that this is the correct family as i cant find any trace of her, esp in 1911. my main problem is that my grandfathers birth cert has the names of annie and thomas davies as his parents,it read strangely enough for the mothers name as this " annie davies formerly jones nee davies which seems to say that her birth name was davies then married jones and then became davies???? however her death is recorded as being annie jones, so it appears she never divorced william?

yes i know this is all very confussing

thanks for taking the time to search this one out for me, but i dont think its the correct family, i have searched and searched on all the cencus, under both her maiden name and her married one, she has simply siddapeared with her 2 girls, assuming that they are with her somewhere, but if not they have gone also, havent a clue who they are with either, i have gone thr all the family that i can come up with and nothing, gone vamooshed!!!!!! the only real factual info i have is when the girls turn up and get married, snd ythen later on when i have their graves in manchester southern cem. in fact that is where i have got my info from,

Is it just possible that she couldn't divorce William because he died somewhere/sometime in the war. They had to wait seven years to presume death if a body wasn't found. Often women took another"husband" out of financial necessity when their husband/ breadwinner was missing for whatever reason. It seems as if Annie married a cousin?Or perhaps she was unmarried at the time of the baby's birth.
Do you have a marriage cert for Annie's marriage to Mr. Jones. What were the names of the witnesses and what was name and occupation of Annie's father. Sometimes a witness is a relation and in helps in getting the right person.

I see the problem... there was an abundance of Annie Davies born around that time in Denbighbighshire.
Annie the daughter of David and Elizabeth nee Hughes,(farmers)(born Cefyn Denbigh)
Annie daughter of Edward and Sarah(with William Roberts the lodger)
Annie Davies age 20 on 1901 census, the niece of Margaret Davies, a grocer in Llangerniew
and Annie Davis, aged 20 in 1901, born Bodfam? Denbigh, a housemaid in a big house in Denbigh where the cook is Mary JONES aged 22.
    So which is your Annie?

What is the birth date for brother Robert ? 1883 denbighshire, taken from the 1901 cencus above

If she married William Jones and was in Manchester in 1901 when & where did they marry? totally unsure where and when they married, again just using the info from the 1901 cencus, however when annie died in 1953 she was buried under the name of jones, she was placed in the grave with her daughter and grandson, then my grand dad was added in there later on in 1993

You state she had two daughters, what are their names and where/when were they born? annie ellen jones 1900 denbighshire and mary louisa jones 1901 manchester

What is the name of your Grandfather (annie and thomas davies as his parents, place, dob (if still living send me a PM)harry davies b 1922, however after yet again looking at freebmd i am totally unsure whether i have got the right certificate for his birth as there are also 3 possibilites that follow in the june 1922 entry, i must admit i was slightly surprised when i did get the cert that states thomas as his dad, due to his marriage cert with my grandma stating his father was called harry davies also,

sorry if this seems a but confuzzzed but its the best info i can give at the moment

sorry to bring this back to life, im still hunting this family tho,

in 1918 annie ellen married william keeley
in march quarter 1922 annie jones gave birth to harry davies father according to birth cert was thomas davies
in june quarter 1922 mary louisa married sydney hill
in 1925 mary gave birth to john hill who als died that year.

on thinking more about this family it came to me, it was always odd that annie had a 21 yr gap from having babies, then of course, this was just before the adoption became legal! i have a real gut feeling that harry was actually mary's first son, although i cant prove it, but the registration of birth was left very late i.e. 6 weeks and 1 day! but it would make sense however that still doesnt change the fact that i cant find anything on annie and williams marriage, i have today phoned gro to order a search for the wedding cert but they have refused to do so with the only info i have of the grooms name grooms fathers name and brides surname, i do not have a date or place, and although the bride was using the name annie on the 1901 cencus that name could have been the shortened version of hanna, sarah, margaret ...........................

so im still totally stuck unless any of you kind people on here can figure a way forward on this one, cause i really cant see how myself.
