Exclamation Patrick and Margery Breslin help please

I am having difficulty in tracing my great grandparents deaths. Patrick Breslin was born around 1861-1867 married Margery McElwain 7th December 1890 in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Carndonagh, Inishowen, County Donegal. I have a copy of their marriage certificate. It states Patrick's father was John Bresland and Margery's father as Alexander McElwain both alive but no mention of the mothers. I would like to know their mothers names. I would love to know their births also.

I found them in the 1901 Census of Carrickafoden, Glenagannon, Donegal Patrick aged 40 and Madge 30 with children Mary, Alexander, John J, and Patrick (my grandfather) all born Donegal.

In the 1911 census they lived at number 18 Tullanree, Glenagannon, Donegal Patrick age 47 Madge 41 with children Mary, Madge, Michael and Francis it also stated they had 9 children, 7 still living. I would like to know who of children died and when. I have the name Ethna but am unsure of this.
My dad's cousin in Inishowen said they are buried in Sacred Heart RC in Carndonagh she showed me where when I visited, but the head stone is not there, she thinks Patrick died around 1936/37 and does not know about Madge.
I asked the priest but he was far too busy to talk to me so left disappointed.
I have been trying to find this information out for a while and had hoped to tell my father (Patrick junior's son) but sadly he died 5th December 2010, so I would appreciate any help.

    Many thanks

    Norah Wood (nee Breslin)

According to the Irish Times site, the RC parish records for Carndonagh go back to 1846, and there are copies in 3 locations (the church will hold the originals). However only Donegal Ancestry (and the church) have those form 1880 onwards which are years you are interested in. The baptism records should reveal the identities of the missing children. You may also pick up both sets of parents and siblings, if this was both families’ local church.

One option might be to write to the priest for permission to view the old records, or pay Donegal Ancestry to research them for you.

I can’t see a birth of an Eithna Breslin/Bresland on the LDS pilot site. I can see a birth for Alexander Breslan, registered Inishowen July – Sept 1894 Volume 2, page 98. That’s surely your Alexander Breslin so you’ll need to check all spellings of the surname when researching the records:
