Thread: please help !

hi all. i am trying to help an old neighbour find out if he has any family still alive. he was born in the u.k. in 1930. he had some mental problems when he was a young man, so now he does not remember much. all he knows is his name, date of birth and that he was born in staffordshire in england. can any one help?
where should i start?
does he have any siblings?
any advice and help would be very welcome.
he or i, don`t have the cash to pay some company to do this.

You could try searching the free sites eg. Freebmd . I'm sure our excellent researchers will help and guide you in your search .
Try finding out his parents names if possible
Whereabouts in Staffordshire he lived , if he remembers landmarks, streets etc , names of neighbours , schools , every little bit of information might help .

Hi Geoffery, Welcome to Ancestryaid..When I am trying to find someone still living in the UK if I know their name and a rough birth year I search the 192 UK Addresses.Using this page you can search 2002 to 2007 Electoral.Sometimes you do need to buy credits to access the information such as phone numbers and so on (Not ex directory)..Other times you can get a partial address for no cost at all..If your old neighbour still has family alive such as siblings I am sure we at Ancestryaid can help with their names and other particulars but you need to help us by first sighting a copy of your neighbours birth certificate..His parents names will be mentioned and Mothers maiden name...Some weeks back now I started to search for a person living in London who never even knew I existed. .All I had to go on was simply a name. Thanks to 192 and the help of one of our members I am now in contact with this person..
