John Manners born 1817 to John and Agnes (nee Montgomery), Married Margaret Campbell 6 August 1841 district of Greenock East, County Renfew, Scotland. He had to return to sea almost immediately and was 'lost at sea'. No dates can be found. Family history says he was on a ship where the crew mutinied and may have landed on an Island somewhere - possibly near Haiti - but again no confirmation. Extensive research done by professionals in Scotland and by family in Scotland cannot locate the name of the ship he served on either as a mariner or carpenter (some records record both or just carpenter). Maritime museums and associations have not been able to assist. Thus far no newspaper reports have been found regarding a mutiny. He was not on the ship Creole carrying slaves, when there was a mutiny on that ship. Any further suggestions of where I might find the ship that he sailed on would solve this brick wall.
Thanks
Shirley
