Speaking of brick walls and missing links, I have one of each, if there are any Moss researchers available who can help. I'm at a dead end with my gr-gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather James Moss b. abt. 1750 and d. 1801, James can be found in the Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Kent area of England around 1789 when he marries his second wife Susannah Webb. Together they have the following children; Jane b. 1790, James b. 1794, Elizabeth b. 1795, Sarah b. 1797, Alice b. 1798, and Joseph Webb Moss b. 1800. I can not seem to locate a record of James' (b. 1750) first marriage or any births from that union either. There is also a William and Margaret Moss and a Samuel and Sarah Moss in the Swanscombe area during the same period as James and Susannah. Most of the children and grandchildren of James and Susannah eventually end up in Leicester, Leicestershire together in the 1800's, which leads me to a missing link. John Moss married to Lydia Hyde at Great Linford, Bucs in 1815. Both born abt. 1788, John's birthplace is listed on the 1851 census as Carlton, Oxfordshire, and Lydia's as Daventry, Northamptonshire. John and Lydia's children were; Thomas b. 1821 in Stony Stratford, Bucks. twins Sarah Anne and Lydia, both b. 1820 in Stony Stratford, and John, b. 1824 Swithland, Leicestershire. John died in 1855 in Leicester, Leicestershire. Any info on any of these families would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
