    Default Huffers of Lincolnshire

A request on behalf of a friend - she writes:
I'm looking for John Huffer shoemaker - Bourne Lincolnshire. His daughter married Thomas Porter in Bourne in 1849. There are three John Huffer on the IGI but none as far as I can see with a daughter Mary-Ann. Very confusingly there is a Thomas Huffer about the same age also a shoemaker and with a daughter Mary-Ann. There is no mention of 'deceased' on the marriage cert. I'm curious to find the wife/mother. I think Mary-Ann's witness was her sister or cousin. I found record of her in the Bourne workhouse.
    Any help/suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks.

    Hi Spottydog.

On the 1841 census there is a Mary Huffer 20 yrs, Female Servant (born in county) living in the household of Thomas Storey, Farmer, at Bede House Bank, Bourne. No sign of a John Huffer in the area though I'm afraid.

The 1856 History, Gazetteer & Directory of Lincolnshire shows aThomas Huffer, Shoemaker, resident at Bourne, but no further details.

The same Thomas cannot be found on the 1841 census.

    - Apologies Spottydog - carelessness on my part - I see you have already located Thomas.

    Hello

Have you looked through all the pages of the 1841 census return for any other HUFFER entries? H107 615

Checked the Parish Records ( Burials). I cannot see an appropriate death certificate entry.

Checked the original Parish records ( Baptisms) for an illeg child, my ancestor or his 'siblings' they all ave a different father, does not come up on familysearch.org, but is in the Parish records shown as the bastard child of......

Can you give the ref for the marriage on the BMD register, also the names of both fathers /occupations and the names of both witnesses. I cannot find a marriage in 1849. I did find this on IGI:

IGI Individual Record FamilySearch™ International Genealogical Index v5.0 British Isles
Thomas Porter Male Marriages: Spouse: Mary Ann Huffer
Marriage: 26 JUL 1849 Bourne, Lincoln, England
Parents: Father: John Porter (Grooms father)
'' No one knows who we are or where we are going until we have been and gone ''.

    Researching the following families;
Kitchin & Sharpe, Cumberland, Canada, USA : Dixon, Lancashire, Westmorland, USA
Fell & Hanslow, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, USA Australia.
    Guess, Buckinghamshire : Meakins, Northamptonshire
