Default William Gibson of Screveton, Notts.

Hello, I am doing some research on prominant Freemasons of the late 18th- 19th century and would like to know of any info of William gibson, but, sadly, all I know of him is that he lived in screveton, he died on october 20 1820 aged 82 (as recorded on his gravestone at Screveton churchyard) making his birth year 1738. I would be so grateful on any information about this man.
    Many thanks,
    Hannah

This will take you to the online archives at Nottingham

    DServe Archive Index

There is also an archive at the old TV studies which now houses the Nottingham University Library which may be able to help, I found a reference for a relative on National Archives and the original papers dated 1833 were there and I was able to view them.

Have found his burial on my disc but no extra info given, well worth checking the original burial entry in case there is some extra info, the vicar at Newark not too far away was very fond of leaving, extra dates and names. There's no baptism near the birth date but my disc is not the brand new one and there's nothing for Screveton, the Nottingham papers I looked at are dated well after William's death so I think the archives maybe the best place to start as I found a message asking about the motto inscriptions meaning on his headstone

Part of it ( I think ) A Past Grand Master for the County of Nottingham
    Knights Templars of Jerusalem.

You can find ref to the message if you search putting in

    screveton history william gibson

Looking for Moore/Ward mainly Leicester, Elsden/Elsdon Essex way and where is Gertrude Wills???
