Thread: Looking for william's birth

From information on his gravestone at Lochrutton, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, my GGGgrandfather, William Wilson was born in 1773, and died age 68 on Oct 29th 1841. He was married to Mary Martin b 1758/9 and their first child was born in 1795. William was Blacksmith at Lochrutton from @1790 to 1830 and contd to live there until his death.
I have been unable to find either his marriage or birth. The latter is more important, as without it I cannot move back to the previous generations.
William owned the smithy and some other cottages adjacent to it.
Help to find any information about William - where he was born, parents etc - would be much appreciated. I have used scotlandspeople and Family Search websites, Dumfries and Galloway Archives, without success.
I have a good deal of information on the subsequent generations.
