Thread: 1851 census lookup please

Hi. I am looking for a Henry Bradford Rider in 1851. He was born in Bermondsey but in 1841 he was in Stockton Durham. He could be in Yorkshire. He was born about 1832. He most likely is a lodger somewhere as his father is deceased and he isnt with his mother or any of his brothers or sisters. The only sister he had that is missing is a Harriet. She was born in 1817 so if he is with a married Harriet and her family then that could possibly be her. [I could hope. LOL]

What you leads yotu to think that Henry RIDER is with PAul and Sarah in 1841, the surname is RYDER and the entry could be their son!

Can you post more information about your RIIDER family please.

Hi Elsabels. I have the 1841 census entry for Paul and Sarah and Henry is with them. [Stockton Durham] Paul died there in 1843 and in 1851 Sarah is back down in Bermondsey with her son Frederick and his family plus her mother Elizabeth, who has lived with Frederick since 1841. Paul and Sarahs daughter Sarah [Prince] is in Sunderland in 1851.
Henry had vanished from the face of the earth after the 1841 census.
[Paul was a publican in Bermonsey until 1841, when he moved to Stockton] His death certificate says he was a liscensed victueller] He had the Rose and Crown Long Lane Bermondsey. before the Rose and Crown, he was at the Grapes , Gainsford st. He has been a publican since his daughters bapt in Harlow Essex in 1817!
Henry Bradford Rider[Ryder] is a pain in the neck. LOL. I have been trying to find him for years. He was born 1832 in Bermonsey. Hid brother Frederick had a son also called Henry bradford Ryder born 1847. He also has vanished after the 1851 census!

Henry Bradford RIDER born March 1849 Bemondsey 4 34

Thanks Elsabels. I have a feeling that Henry B [b 1848 reg is 1849] was transported. There is an entry at old Bailys for a Henry Ryder [right age] being tried at Bermondsey, which would answer why he wasnt around in 1861. He ended up in Western Australia but I cant prove any more.
Henry B the eloder was said to be `aristocratic` by my grandfathers sister years ago but I doubt it very much, althought there is a record of a henry b Ryder being an American consulate but again, I cant get a grip on him. There is record of him on the internet but I cant get a birth date or birth place. if my Henry B went to America before 1851, my he hit the big time LOL
