I am seeking information on John Ronald "Ronnie" Dixon, (1924 - 1994), born near Barnsley, near Leeds, formerly of East Belfast, Ireland and Yorkshire, England. Former rear-gunner, WWII, Yorkshire Squadron 431. Left Edinborough June 1950, took ship to Cape Town, South Africa, believed to have settled in Durban, S.A., died there August 15, 1994 at age of 70. He left behind a wife, (Pat)ricia Louisa Dixon, and son John Henry Dixon (b. 19??) in Belfast, never to be heard-from again. Any friends or relatives who can provide us with any details of his life, death, burial ground, and residence location in South Africa would be greatly appreciated, for the purposes of closure.
I am a friend of the family, but as such, am unable to get any details from S.A. archivists or other leads, because of arm's-length inquiry on behalf of family who is not so computer-literate, and also for privacy policy reasons. While the reasons for Ronnie's abandonnment of his family may never be disclosed or discovered, his family is more concerned about any health-issue history they should be apprised of. It is believed he died of pneumonia. Also, any links he may have had to possible S.A. veteran's associations, Irish pubs or social agencies or clubs would be appreciated.
Many thanks for your help, leads or input,
