Robert Bowell

Hi there,
I am trying to find out about Robert Bowell and Mary Hart. They were married on 7th October 1773 in St Mary Magdalene, Oxford, and they are referred to Robert Bowell of St Giles and Mary Hart of St Mary Magdalene. I have been told that Robert Bowell was born in 1748 and Mary Hart was born in 1750, but I cannot confirm this. I cannot find the baptism records for Robertin St Giles or for Mary in St Magdalene. It could be that they were only in the city of Oxford for a short time and they were not born there.

Can any help me trace these two ancestors of mine.

Do you have any other information we can have to help you? All i found was the marraige on Familysearch.org , which is the same as you already have .

Andrew Hi,
I have the surname Bowell in my tree however its not a branch I have done much researching on..I was in touch some time ago with a fellow who has done his homework on the Bowell surname so I will see if he can help with your search..My Uncle married a Ruby Doris Bowell from London.. Her parents were Arthur Bowell and Alice Norman..

and if so I suggested you join Ancestryaid....Pleased you did so a very warm welcome to you..I am wondering if we should be looking at Suffolk for a possible marriage as I have in my notes on Bowell that their sons were all born Eye Suffolk..Robert the first born 1780...I think we should also search for different variants of the surname such as Bowle..A quick look through family search and there are a few Bowell surnames for Suffolk so if our members are not able to come up with a find for you Andrew I would think about contacting the Suffolk FHS...
