My brick wall is Thomas Fretwell. I have researched my family back to this Thomas who is named as the father of John bap. 25 Jan 1618 at Woolley Yorks.; Elizabeth bap. 30 Sept 1613 Woolley, Yorks; Jane bap. 24 June 1627 Woolley, Yorks and Thomas bap. 13 Sept 1629 Woolley, Yorks.
Their father Thomas Fretwell is not mentioned as buried at Woolley and I have not been able to trace him anywhere. My family are well documented in Wroot now S. Yorks but original in Lincolnshire. Woolley is in the Barnsley, Wakefield area so the family did not stray far.
Perhaps I am too hopeful because of the era. But I have traced my direct Fretwell line back from me and would like to go further back as there are many documented Fretwells, some even to the 11th century. Any help from you would be really appreciated. Ther has always been a family tradition that we originally came over with William the Conqueror and there is documentation of Fretwells from then, I would like to connect to them if that is true.
Hoping you can help
Anne Fretwell
