    Exclamation Bouffler

    Hi,
I am trying to find out about Daniel Bouffler
On the IGI it has the following:

    Born in England 1664.
Died at Battle of Fontainebleau, Seine-Et-Marne
Buried 02 Feb 1745 in Saint Leonards, Buckingham (I think it should be Saint Leonards, Shoreditch as his will states him living there, and Buckingham have no records of his burial).

Would anyone be able to tell me more, where do these records originate from? Would be great to find out where he was born and more about the battle (couldn't find any info about a battle in Fontainebleau at this time).
    Kind regards
    suzie

On the IGI it is a member submitted record so I would take it with a pinch of salt.
Unless he was someone very special I would doubt that his body would be brought from France for burial in England.
I also can find no record of a battle at Fontainbleau at this time, there is plenty of info out there regarding the Chateau of Fontainbleau but no mention of a battle.

    Hello

Maybe my maths ain't to good! But you indicate that Daniel was born 1664 and
Died at Battle of Fontainebleau, Seine-Et-Marne Buried 02 Feb 1745
That suggests tha he went into the battle aged 81??

The Battle of Fontenoy took place in 1745, but if Bouffler's date of birth is 1664 as given, he would have been 81 at the time.

As Elsabels says, IGI submitted entries have to be treated with extreme circumspection.

Unfortunately Fontenoy took place 3 months after he was buried.

A good excuse for him not being there, Don.
