Thread: Evan Cameron

My big help request is one of two brick walls i have, but one thing at a time eh! i

t is on the line of my great grandfather Lance Corporal Evan Cameron. I have details of his parents but then the trail gets sticky on his fathers side.

Lnc Cpl Evan Cameron - 1877(glasgow) - 1913(morayshire). Married Isabella Stuart.
Children Isabella, Margaret, James and John. ~Whole family lived in South Africa for a period of time.
Parents Alexander Cameron born circa 1850 Scotland and Marjory/Margery McDonald(1853 - 1941).
Alexander and Marjory married in Newcastle Upon Tyne - strangely, as neither of them were born or died there.
I have marjorys parents as John McDonald and Mary A C McKenzie which I can trace another generations or two from there.
The problem is that on their marriage certificate, Alexanders father is listed as Eden Cameron. A very unusual name that I cannot find any records whatsoever for.
Once cencus where alexander is 1 (1851) shows what could possibly be him with a father called erwin if i remember correctly.

Any help with this mysterious Eden Cameron would be so much appreciated. Who was his wife/Alexanders mother?

There appear to be Attestation papers on line for a Evan CAMERON at W097 4482 82, his next of kin is given as father, 100 John St San Franscisco ( consider PPV 30 credits on a subscription site), or at the National Archives

thank you for the replies so far. this could be him, im just unsure that ervan could be misread for eden. ive also heard that the date of alexanders birth may be different also, and i cannot find a death for him as it is such a common name. i dont think i will ever get any further on this one!

anyone have any further ideas? looking for the parents of alexander cameron, father of evan cameron. Father seen on marriage cert as Eden. Thank you
