    Exclamation Henry Grimstead, Wisbech

Can you help to find the parents of Henry Grimstead, born Wisbech, Cambs around 1821? He's my gggrandfather.
Living single in Boston as a mail coach driver 1851. He married Harriet Gresham, born Fishtoft around 1834, in early 1850s. They had one living son, George Henry Grimstead born 1854 in Wisbech, who was brought up by his wife's adoptive parents , the Gaunts, in Keal, Lincs (1861 census). Henry appears with Harriet in Holbeach in each census until they both died around 1909. They may have had another son there who died. He remained a mail carrier/postal worker for all that time.
None of the appropriate families in Wisbech in 1820s seem to be his, i.e. no son Henry.

If you have a look here, all the younger members have been rounded to 15 making Henry in this household c 1826

    Elm Road, Wisbech St Peter
    1841 Census
    GRIMSTEAD, Daniel
    WISBECH, Cambridgeshire
    HO107 piece 79 folio 10 page 15

Daniel is a publican, Henry the only one born in Cambridgeshire...you need Henry's marriage cert to confirm

I agree with the previous post and think this is your Henry.

    1841 England Census
    Name: Henry Grimstead
Age: 15 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1826
    Gender: Male
    Where born: Cambridgeshire, England
    Civil parish: Wisbeach St Peter
    Hundred: Wisbeach (Isle of Ely)
    County/Island: Cambridgeshire Country: England
    Registration district: Wisbech
    Sub-registration district: St Peter
    Household Members: Name Age
    Daniel Grimstead 55 Occ Publican
    Ann Grimstead 50
    Henry Grimstead 15
    address Elm Road
I know this is about 4 years out in age but if you look at the original cesus all ages finish in a 5 or 0 which
would suggest the ages have been rounded up or down. this was common on the 1841 census
'' No one knows who we are or where we are going until we have been and gone ''.

    Researching the following families;
Kitchin & Sharpe, Cumberland, Canada, USA : Dixon, Lancashire, Westmorland, USA
Fell & Hanslow, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, USA Australia.
    Guess, Buckinghamshire : Meakins, Northamptonshire

    Thanks all,
I had dismissed that family in previous researching, mostly at the Fenland museum, because none of the older members of my family (all gone now) had any knowledge of a publican in the family history. I had seen that this was the only Henry born in Wisbech at about the right time but his known life history just did not seem to "fit in". Also none of the parental names were ever passed to children, i.e. no Daniels or Annes. Mind you Henry did not bring up his son, having "abandoned" him to inlaws. Not really definitive reasons to ignore them, I know.
I will have to go back and get the formal records, especially his birth cert and wedding lines to Harriet Gresham.
