    Default Help!!

I have just been searching another family member and found octavius frederick heritage b.1819 married emily jane mutton 1856 in islington. london, but do not know whether they had any children as yet because he died 1865 and buried at goodnestone, kent. Emily jane mutton (Heritage) died: canterbury 1879 aged 45yrs.

I also found out that he had a brother called leonidas polybius archer heritage b:1813 cranbrook, kent. died:1834 buriel at goodnestone, kent. There are other members in the family, but really need to know why they died at an early age.

Does anyone know of a site that you could look at headstones of people that died at that church or cremetery? except find a grave.co.uk (i am with that one)
Could someone point me in the right direction for me, as i seem to be going round in circles.
    any help would be great.
    Thanks

    Hi Alisonjane.

Although his brother Leonidas died in the pre-Registration era, Octavius Frederick's death was registered. Obtaining a copy of his death certificate should help you.

Octavius Frederick Heritage, died Jan/Mar quarter 1865, Reg. District Dover. Vol. 2a Page 549 refers.

Given life expectancy and conditions prevailing in the 19th century, neither of the deaths you mention are remarkable regarding age at time of death.

Possibly of interest - Evidently Octavius Frederick Heritage was a Surgeon to the Kent Militia Regiment of Artillery.
There are a few 19th century news reports relating to him - please let me know if you require further details.

    briliant, thanks for information.
I have a copy of an old bailey court case from 1841 where octavius frederick heritage was a surgeon and i have only just found him, but it was a not guilty verdict.

That was one of the reports I found, Alisonjane.
The others were just notices of his commissioning in the Militia, and subsequent promotion.
