    Exclamation Speakman Family Line

    Speakman Family Line from South Wales, UK.

    I have been trying to research my family tree for a while now, and have found that I am unable to go any further back than my g.g. grandfather.
    I believe my g.g.grandad is a William J Speakman born in the north of England, one census record stated Manchester ( and moved to south Wales) and married Anne Morgan, who already had her own children. They had children together, but I can't find a marriage record for them!
    Fact, I know that my great grandad was a Frederick Speakman, Birth 20 June 1901 Merthyr Tydfil, Wales an died Jul 1967. Married a Doris Purnelll and had two boys, Ronald Frederick (my grandad) and William Charles.

    My problem is that I can't find William J Speakman, as there are too many hits that could be him. My best guess is


    Any help would really be appreciated.

    I cannot find a marriage but from records it states married 1895. If Annie had children before the marriage do you know their names and is Morgan her maiden name or surname from a previous marriage?

    The family are on the 1901 Wales census at RG13 5026 49 21 under Speakemann


    Marriage is likely to be Speakman / Lewis

    Ann MORGAN = David LEWIS Dec 1876 Merthyr Tydfil 11a 632

    On the 1891 wales census Ann indicates that she is still married!

    Thank you so much for all of your time and expertise to help me!

    So it looks like my search for a marriage certificate between William J Speakman and Ann Morgan may be futile, seems there isn't one. Looks like Morgan was Anns Maiden name, maybe she's a widow maybe not, but now i have her first husbands name and date of marriage I can investigate that further. Plus, very interesting to see in 1901 a William Lewis is a boarder within the family home, I wonder if this a relation to the first husband, David Lewis?

    I can finally add a death record to William J Speakman.

    It's sad to see there was another child, sharing his fathers name who, from looking at the record died at a very young age.
