    Exclamation Francis D'Freytes

I have hit a brick wall trying to find the parents of my ancestor Francis D'Freytes (or Defrates, de Frates) b 1710 in Rochester Kent and married Mary Cheney on 13/8/1749 in St. Nicholas, Rochester. He was buried on 3/11/1803 at St. Margaret's Rochester. I would like to find out who his parents were. Have tried the church records but they were lost during the two world wars!!!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Just an idea as i havnt been able to find any earlier records , If you could visit St. Margaret's Rochester in Kent , and look at his headstone if he had one , also his parents maybe buried there too .
Apparently he was a Mariner , noticed this while searching .

    Hello

If it is the parish records that have been destroyed, there may be the Bishops Transcripts ( BT) held in the record office. record office
Every 12 months or so the Parish records, the daily events of the church records, were transcribed albeit in probably an abbreviated way and forwarded to the Bishops Office.

I did go to the church in Rochester, but the gravestones have been damaged and most of them re-used for paving and are very worn. Did find his will in the Naval records but very little else. Thanks for your help though.
