Thread: My brick wall - John Dyast

I have not been able to find anything on John Dyast (Dyest, Dyust) for about 2 years. He came to Australia before 1855. On 12 February 1855 he married Emma Briant (Bryant). The early church record does not list his parents.

When his wife registered the birth of one of their daughters she gave the birthplace of John Dyast as Seven Oaks, Kent, England. The only reference of the Dyast name I can find in England is Comfort Dyast and her husband. They do not appear to be any relation as far as I can find.

I cannot find any references to John Dyast in the Immigration files to Australia and there is no record of the death of a John Dyast in Australia. His wife Emma Briant remarried on 12 August 1878 to John McKay.

He has disappeared into thin air.

The best I can give for a birth date for John Dyast is about 1834. His daughters were born in 1856 and 1857 in Australia. The birth certificate for the daughter born in 1856 has his age as 22 years.
