BOWIE/CRAIG..Johnstone, Paisley.

My total Brick wall are the parents of Allan Buie/Bowie, b.1762 probably Abbey Paisley. He married Janet Andrew b.1764, Abbey Paisley. Marriage M/OPR/1789/559/00 FR I have info on her parents Craig/Andrew, which I got from the "Andrew" site (and Allans birth date). I have their marriage cert. from Scotlandspeople (but they could not find a birth registered). I have looked in all the usual places except the hearth, poll tax etc. but after their first few children, they just seem to drop off the earth!
There is a misleading entry to say that Janet Andrew died in Y Picardie France. This is a glitch in the Ancestry software and there are hundreds of complaints about it. Ignore it!

This family lived in Johnstone, attended Paisly Low Church and were all Blacksmiths in my line. I have not yet managed a connection to the farmers and weavers, but it may come.
They also all die of cardio vascular disease to this day! This shown on old death certs as... appoplexy, dropsy, cardio valvular disease and paralysis (due to stroke)etc. All old fashioned terms. Their naming pattern of Robert, John , Allan onwards is most confusing, as this was a large family in a small town. There is ALWAYS an Allan in my line. And to this day die early of a heart attack.

I am decended from Allans son John(d.1860 aged 62yrs), who married Jane/Jean Thomson in June 1815, and can be found on the census at Greenend ,Quarrelton. There were two Johns living there both Blacksmiths. Beware! My line is through his son Peter. Any help with Allans birth or death greatly appreciated.
Lyn Bowie.
